Happy Canadian Thanksgiving/ Action de Grâce

It's funny to see yourself as a weaving.

I'm really enjoying my Jacquard weaving class. I think this is especially the case because all of the designing and repeating pattern work I did at NSCAD was by hand. It's also different (designing for weaving) from screenprinting as there's no need to worry about lines not meeting up. When weaving, you can get anything to work, as long as you spend enough time tinkering with the design software. The possibilities are so exciting! My French is coming along. I've got my weaving and computer lingo down pat, but I have to focus diligently for the entire class, and often I leave feeling like someone injected my brain with ten Red Bulls.

One sock for me.

One sock not for me. They are for someone's birthday (in December), someone who loves red. I actually will have them done on time. This is done using yarn a wonderfully simple and elegant pattern sent to me by Delly, my SP9 Angel. Shh... don't worry Delly, the rest of the yarn is all for me.

A close-up.

Dorothy was kind of enough to send me a reversible scarf pattern she had designed. It's called Under Water and I'm feeling completely gratified with the textural effect of the pattern. Thanks Dorothy!

In other news, I love Montreal. As John says, she is an adept seductress and I have fallen prey. At the moment, I never want to leave. I keep questioning myself, wondering if perhaps I'm in the 'infatuation' part of my relationship with this city, but it feels real. For the first time in years, I feel like I am home somewhere, not in a temporary place, and I feel like just being where I am, just breathing and enjoying life and not planning.

This is the view from my back porch.

I keep checking Ravelry. I signed up very late, not hearing about it until September. This is what it said today.

Love that stitch "Under Water." I hope she'll publish it on her blog some day.

Montreal looks lovely. That scarf pattern is great. I like the gray yarn too.

You're very welcome!

Montreal always sounds like such a beautiful place. If only I could convince the Mr. he wants to go.

Pretty socks.

The socks look great but the Jacquard weaving is stunning! What fun.
