Recent Work

Woven copper, doubleweave, heat patinated

Remazol, Procion, chemical resist; screenprinted, squeegeed, discharged.
Inspired by the Dead Sea Scrolls.

These are my most recently completed work, but honestly, all I want to do is knit cozy, comfy, winter-friendly items like socks and mittens. I want to spend an entire evening sprawled on the living room floor in the middle of my knitting books and magazines, on the quest for The Perfect Next Project. Just imagining that kind of evening gives me goosebumps. It's like sitting down to make a Christmas list when you were a little kid, starting off with a blank page that's thirty rows long. My fingers are also itching to knit themselves silly. I had my Secret Pal's socks at school with me today, and it was a major effort in self restraint to keep myself from yanking them out and knitting, knitting, knitting through our lecture on printing with mordants for natural dyeing. It must be end of semester burnout, a yearning for more functional crafty activities, a little less art.

Forget the fuzzy stuff... I want to lick the copper doubleweave! Sick. I know. We all have our crosses to bear....

I am always so awed by your work. These are fantastic!

I had to grin at your mention of "the Quest for the Perfect Next Project." That's almost more fun than the project itself.

I have to admit I miss when you dont see a new post from you because your work is so incredible. I love looking at it. I get though what you mean about wanting to do something else. I am working on Christmas gifts when I really feel like spinning.

Love the woven copper. It is as drapey and smooth as it looks?

Winter seems to trigger the knitter in many of us.

Those pieces are gorgeous. I'm totally on the same page with you with the burnout and need to knit. It just takes time I guess, maybe eventually we'll just find time to knit it out and want to pick everything back up again.
