Quill Lace Socks

This is the easiest sock pattern in the world - and it's completely purl-less! They are a surprise for a friend of mine who has just started grad school. Shhhh (you can see her work here).... she is so talented, and I absolutely love her paintings.

Thank you for the many congratulations and kind e-mails regarding our surprise! I recently decided it was time to begin something for the wee alien.


Here is my anti-pastel baby blanket (which is actually the Moderne Baby Blanket from Mason-Dixon knitting). When people ask me what I'm knitting I call it my 'anti-pastel blanket' and then say, "except for the green." A six-year old challenged me last weekend! "It can't be anti-pastel if you have a pastel!" he declared. Technically, I had to concede that he had a point, and then I tried to explain that my yarn store had had a very limited palette to choose from, but that didn't wash. Obviously, who was I to try and argue?

Something Strange

Work completed shortly before I left for the summer. It didn't turn out exactly as I had hoped (does anything?) but I like the close-up.

I recently met these just-shorn alpaca wandering around Wakefield, Québec, on leashes.


Our brief relationship was not particularly mutual - they weren't all that impressed to meet me.


My last few weeks on vacation on Ottawa have been very relaxing, but I am beginning to feel ready to return to Montréal and all my studio work. Unfortunately, the second bedroom functions as my studio and weaving room, and my living room has a tendency to look like this when I am home....


We're going to have to move.
