Finally, one IK merino lace sock down.

I'm not sure if I'm going to keep them for myself, but they are definitely fun to try on and admire.

This week I also, rather spur of the moment in the midst of a cold, decided to make mittens. I was feeling inspired by recently finished Scandinavian mittens on blogs like Saartje Knits so I chose this pattern from Nancy Bush's Folk Knitting in Estonia. Unfortunately, for some rather oblique reason, it just isn't hitting the spot for me. It's as though I decided to eat a pretzel when I was craving chocolate. I'll finish them (no more mate-less items allowed in my stash basket!) and stick them in my Christmas gift pile, then try and decipher what sort of pattern I was really craving.

I should point out one major annoyance of mine, and that is that most of the pages of Nancy Bush's Folk Knitting in Estonia have fallen out! They began to fall out as soon as I brought it home from the bookstore. I would have returned it but it was the only copy in stock anywhere in all of Ottawa at the time.

Your sock is just beautiful! I love the colorway and it looks beautiful in that lace pattern. Even though it didn't quite hit the spot for you, your Estonian mitten is stunning! After a LOT more knitting practice, I would love to be able to attempt something like that. And I so hear you about getting a pretzel when needing chocolate- no messing around with pretzels during PMS for me! :-)

The socks you made look luxuriously comfy! And I have to agree that your mittens do look stunning but loving what you are knitting is vital.
